Sr Marcia Maranta recognised by Redland City Council

Sr Marcia Maranta, a Sister of Mercy from the Brisbane Congregation, was among those honoured recently by the Redland City Council. To celebrate International Women's Day, Redland City Council honoured some of its outstanding female citizens at a special celebration at the Queensland Parliament. Sr Marcia was among those honoured and was named Inspirational Woman of the Year for the Cleveland electorate. Sr Marcia taught at both primary and secondary schools in Brisbane and Toowoomba before completing a counselling course in Pastoral Care. She was a counsellor at secondary schools within the Redlands area before joining the Mater Private Hospital Redland team in 2000. Redland City Council Mayor, Karen Williams congratulated Sr Marcia on her award, stating her life has been "dedicated to helping others in many different ways and in different career roles. The one constant is the number of people you have touched during our life's journey". Congratulations, Sr Marcia.
