Sisters of Mercy Brisbane Congregation Celebrate their 2018 Jubilarians

With praise and thanksgiving, the Sisters of Mercy Brisbane Congregation gathered in All Hallows’ Chapel on the fifth Sunday of Easter to celebrate the life and religious commitment of the 2018 Jubilarians.  Sisters Christine Gabbett, Anne McLay and Marie Thérèse Rosenberg celebrated 70 years, Sisters Margaret Kanowski, Christine Watt and Ruth Wyatte celebrated 60 years and Sister Catherine Reuter celebrated 40 years. In the opening prayer, the celebrant Fr Michel Twigg OMI, and the Congregation gathered prayed “God of loving kindness, we come into your presence bringing our whole selves. Open our eyes to see your hand in the splendour of creation, and in the beauty of human life. Help us to cherish the gifts that surround us, to share your blessings with all, and to experience the joy of life in your presence.” During the Ritual of Recommitment, the Jubilarians renewed their vows to live a Gospel life, following Christ in chastity, poverty and obedience, living Mercy in the service of others. The Sisters gathered responded “encouraged by the witness of your life of commitment together may we continue the work of the Gospel courageously, compassionately and without reserve.”

Following the celebration of the Eucharist, all moved to Mercy Place at Bardon to share a celebratory meal following which the Jubilee cake was cut by the Sister Jubilarians.
