Mater Health Services, Brisbane – outreach to Uganda

Mater Health Services Brisbane has an outreach to Uganda.  Under the guidance of their ‘African Mission Committee’, support is provided to an Orphanage at Kitgun, Uganda.  This support is in the form of used medical equipment, beds, pharmacy supplies and linen from Holy Cross Laundry.

Sisters of Mercy at the Mater Convent assist with financial support to supplement this equipment locally at Kitgun.  Mater Health Services sponsor a physiotherapy department at the Orphanage and Graham Carter (MHS Biomedical Department) travels to Uganda and checks all equipment when the container arrives, and ensures it is set up for use in the local setting.

Pictured packing the most recent 20 ft container are members of the ‘African Mission Committee’ with Sr Michaeleen Ahern, the representative on the committee from the Mater Convent.
